Hello Folks,
My name is John Murdo Graham, born and brought up in a very small sub village called “LABOST” in South Bragar, I am a native Gaidhlig Speaker, and I am deeply passionate about both my first Language and my Culture.
I am a product of my environment, being born into a Crofting and Weaving family, and being trained by WITGA (Western Isle Tour Guide Association) as a tour guide.
At the age of 14, I was weaving Harris Tweed under the watchful eye of my Father.
Harris Tweed is so deeply rooted in my being that it is my favourite Skill, not Job. So, I am a qualified Harris Tweed Weaver, with code # AB128.
I am a Qualified Commercial Vehicle Mechanic, but for the last 28 years I have been working in the Offshore Industry for the Exploration of Oil & Gas.
I have also been running my croft for the last 40 years, with a Flock of predominantly Black Face Sheep & two Border Collie Sheepdogs, Molly & Runa.
Being a Fully Qualified Tour Guide has been a huge part of my life for the last decade, I love showing people our beautiful Island, telling facts, and stories about historical sites, and unlike the last 9 nine years driving tour coaches, with my new 9 seater, I love nothing more than taking guests to the places that others may know nothing about, and certainly couldn’t take a huge coach too. Local History particularly the West Side of Lewis, is a huge passion and being able to share it is extremely important to me.
My hobbies are vast,
Sheepdog Training, Reading, Sea and Freshwater Fishing, Motorcycles, Classic Cars and I am also very invested in Playing & Teaching the Great Highland Bagpipes.
I very much look forward to meeting you and showing you around our island, in the future.
